Uchenna Awoke is a Nigerian writer whose work explores memory, silence, familial inheritance, and the texture of rural life. A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, he writes fiction that bridges the intimate and the political, often drawing on the rhythms of oral storytelling and the emotional undercurrents of everyday survival.
Awoke is the author of The Liquid Field, a novel that received critical acclaim for its lyrical prose and atmospheric depth. His short stories and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in Transition, Adda, Prairie Schooner, and Agbowó

A 2021 Miles Morland Writing Scholar and a finalist for the Writivism Prize, Awoke’s work has been supported by institutions including the British Council and the Goethe-Institut. He is currently a grad student at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop and lives in Iowa City, IA USA
